Jüdische Geschichte[n] in der DDR

The interview portal “Jewish [hi]stories in the GDR" presents the interview collections with Jews from the GDR held at the Moses Mendelssohn Center for European-Jewish Studies. The interviews are available as video or audio recordings as well as transcripts (currently in German only).

The digital publication of the interviews is accompanied by a research project that seeks to use the interview collections to answer questions about the return of Jews to the GDR. In particular, similarities but also differences within the interview collections will be highlighted and broader biographical references, historical contexts and other references will be shown. The aim of the online portal is to make the interviews accessible to both researchers and the wider public in the long-term, to contextualize them historically and to provide further material and background information.
